Spanish for 8th graders is a beginning level course introducing students to the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. This class is part of the "Exploratory Wheel" so the primary emphasis is exposure to the language and culture rather than language proficiency. Building a vocabulary of frequently used words is the main focus and some grammar concepts are introduced. Students must keep a vocabulary list adding three words a day to the list. The vocabulary includes greetings, farewells, describing places and people, the alphabet and numbers. There is a short recitation telling about themselves that students must memorize.
